You will experience nothing but pure magic as you join us on our treks, bush walks and Glamping at Ahaspokuna. Your entitlement for a stay of two nights is four walks, which will leave you mesmerized as you are taken down paths of the wild and the mysterious by our walking safari specialists. They will guide you and caution you against startling any of the flora and fauna of the wild and make it a thrilling and exciting walk through the bush.
What’s more exciting than a walk through the jungle at night? You get to experience just that with us as you get to have a peek (from a well-hidden spot) at the animals that come to drink at the waterhole.
Sri Lanka is a blaze of colour and sound – of birds! 250 resident and 33 endemic species have been recorded in this Ornithologist’s paradise. Some species are rare to discover and some just nest in our backyards. Together, let’s discover them all…there’s no end to the incredible locations to spot these feathered beauties.
At Ahaspokuna alone, there are 30% of endemic birds in Sri Lanka. Below is a list of the endemic birds you can find on our Ahaspokuna trails:
We have also been able to spot 50 more species of birds on our trails.
The location at Ahaspokuna has an excellent climate for birds and can not only be spotted on trails, but at the campsite itself. At sundown, we have the chance to take a walk and view the nocturnal animals and some of our feathered friends who have dozed off in their nests.
So do join us on one of our magnificent trails and be dazzled by the vast array of birds which would leave a bird lover with a hearty smile upon his/her face and snapped treasures that they would keep with them for a lifetime.

In the Sinhalese language (spoken in Sri Lanka), “Ahas” means “Sky” and “Pokuna” means “Pond” or “Pool”. Ahaspokuna is so named in reference to the lake here, high up in the hills, that is only fed by rainwater. A former settlement that sprung up on its shores was subsequently also named “Ahaspokuna”. Today, the jungle tide has washed over where people once lived and the camp provides a wilderness retreat for those in search of something different. Ahaspokuna by Eco Team
